About the Role
The Service Advisor is the primary point of contact between the customer and the Service Department. This role is responsible for guiding customers through the maintenance and repair process, communicating recommendations clearly, coordinating repairs, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience from vehicle drop-off through delivery.
Successful Service Advisors combine strong customer service skills, automotive knowledge, sales ability, and organizational excellence to build long-term customer relationships and drive service department success.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a professional, customer-focused experience throughout the service process
- Greet customers and accurately identify vehicle concerns and service needs
- Create and manage repair orders with attention to detail and accuracy
- Explain maintenance recommendations, repair requirements, timelines, and costs clearly and confidently
- Maintain proactive communication with customers regarding vehicle status and repair progress
- Coordinate with technicians, parts personnel, and internal departments to ensure efficient workflow
- Provide accurate estimates for repairs, maintenance, and warranty work
- Address customer questions, concerns, and complaints professionally and effectively
- Promote recommended maintenance, service packages, and dealership programs
- Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and encourage retention
- Maintain complete and accurate service documentation
- Support departmental objectives related to customer satisfaction, efficiency, and sales performance
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer standards, and safety requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by dealership leadership
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Service Advisor experience in an automotive dealership environment
- Strong knowledge of automotive maintenance, repairs, and vehicle systems
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude
- Experience using dealership management systems (PBS experience is an asset)
- Experience with OEM dealership operations is preferred
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
